Family Therapist/Systemic Psychotherapist: Nina Jones

I am a qualified and UKCP-registered Family Therapist – we are also known as ‘Systemic Psychotherapists’, because we think about ‘systems’ such as families, couples and groups/teams. I have much experience of working with young people and their families, couples and teams from working in the NHS in Bristol-based CAMHS (children and adolescent mental health) services, but also through work with young people’s charities.Dr Nina Jones October 2024

As family therapists we work with families (in whatever shape or form), couples, but also individuals, to think about the complex networks of relationships we live in. We have conversations with you about what is going well within those relationships, what you might like to be different and what you would like your relationships to look like going forwards. When one of us struggles, our network tends to struggle, too – and vice versa.

Together with my colleague Jon Ruchpaul, we have set up the ‘Bristol Family Therapy Collective CIC’, a community interest company that aims to provide equal access to high quality family therapy (www.bristolfamilytherapycollective.org). We are right at the beginning of our journey and our current fee structure is aimed to ‘pay forwards’ – your fees will contribute to providing future reduced rate and pro bono family therapy. While we are currently having to ask you to pay, we are also donating large amounts of our own time for free.

Outside work, I enjoy long walks with family, friends and dog Iris – I also bring both these aspects (nature and the dog!) into the therapy space.
