Gestalt Therapist in Training: Edda Johnson

Gestalt Therapist: Edda JohnsonI am in my final year of training as a gestalt therapist at the Welsh Psychotherapy Partnership (WPP). I offer low-cost therapy and counselling for individual adults on a short or long term basis through WPP’s Affordable Therapy Service, which provides high quality psychotherapy by therapists who are in training and working towards United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registration.

I have worked in the voluntary sector for over 30 years in a wide range of health and social care settings, including social housing, regeneration projects and for the last 10 years I have been managing a charity offering bereavement services.

My personal experience of therapy has included Transpersonal Therapy and Person Centred Therapy which are humanistic therapies, that trust people know what they need, and given the space, support and opportunity this can be discovered.   My journey has led me towards Gestalt Therapy which I find is a dynamic and exciting approach. Gestalt means ‘whole’ and involves working with the whole person, bringing into awareness what is happening in the present moment which creates the potential for shifting patterns that are no longer helpful.

I am passionate about being outdoors in nature and long distance walking and camping are activities that I find uplifting and restorative. I also enjoy running and hot yoga.
