Relationship Counsellor: Hannah Russell MNCPS (Acc.)

About Me

I’m a Relate-trained adult relationship counsellor with many years experience of working therapeutically with both individuals and couples.Hannah Russell pic 21 September 2023 IMG_2673

Throughout my career I have been passionate about working to improve outcomes for individuals, families and children. I have held a variety of roles across the NHS, the voluntary sector, local authorities and schools focussing particularly on relationships, mental health and wellbeing.

My interest in counselling began when studying psychology as an undergraduate and led me to train with the Bristol-based charity Womankind, working on their helpline, and then later, from 2008, with Relate as a specialist adult relationship counsellor.

I have lived in Bristol for over 30 years and now work solely in private practice here, offering appointments during daytime office hours from Monday to Thursday each week. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and adhere to their code of ethics.

About Relationship Counselling

There are many and varied reasons which lead people to seek relationship counselling and I have worked with individuals and couples on a broad range of issues including; communication, bereavement, fertility, trust, intimacy, family issues – including parenting, step-families and extended families – infidelity, work and financial worries along with separation and divorce.

Are you struggling to discuss important issues with your partner without arguing, or do you disagree on how to parent your children? Are you finding it difficult to be intimate together or is work stress impacting upon your family life? Have you recently separated from your partner and would like to explore what went wrong or do you have difficulty in developing and sustaining intimate relationships?

I aim to provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and confidential environment in which we can work collaboratively on the issues that are important to you, focussing on meeting your unique, individual needs. I work face to face and online and I welcome clients from a broad and diverse range of backgrounds, including from the LGBTQ+ community.

Next Steps, Booking and Fees

Taking the first step in seeking support can feel daunting and I will do everything I can to help you to feel at ease.

I can offer a brief, free telephone conversation to help answer any questions you may have before deciding whether to book in for an initial consultation. Alternatively, you would be welcome to get in touch to arrange your initial consultation.

Ongoing counselling appointments are usually scheduled weekly. The duration of counselling varies, however six to eight sessions can be a helpful minimum. In shorter term counselling we may focus on the more immediate issues you are experiencing in your day-to-day life, whereas longer term work may allow for a deeper perspective on how your past experiences may be affecting your current difficulties.

All appointments are 50 minutes in length and charged at £65 for individual counselling and £85 for couple counselling.
