I am a dedicated and compassionate relational therapist with over 10 years experience working within different organisational settings including the NHS, charity and educational sectors. Many people experience social, emotional or psychological difficulties at some stage in their life which can be very challenging – talking to a professional like me can help you to make sense of your experiences, emotions and feelings and find a way to move forward and develop insight, awareness, healing and growth.
My initial training and primary therapeutic approach is best described as ‘relational integrative’, my priority is in creating a safe therapeutic space so you can explore aspects of your life that are challenging in an environment of trust, collaboration and respect. I am interested in how the self is impacted by early relational experiences and how these shape your identity, values, beliefs and patterns of behaviour. I believe we all have the capacity to change and transcend difficult experiences and will support you in discovering a more authentic and integrated self.
I have a special interest in working with trauma and issues relating to child sexual abuse, rape and domestic abuse including narcissistic abuse and coercive control. I have a research background in this area and currently run a sexual assault counselling service within the NHS and have a wealth of experience in working with this client group.
As well as the above I also have a qualification in High Intensity Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. CBT is an evidence based approach recommended in the NICE guidelines as the preferred psychological treatment for depression and anxiety disorders including Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I also have some knowledge and training in ‘3rd wave’ cognitive approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion Focussed Therapy. Most clients are unsure which type of therapy is right for them, together we can explore what will best suit you as an individual and tailor interventions to help you to achieve your personal goals for therapy.
I offer short-term and long-term face to face counselling/therapy to males and females aged 16 and over. I offer an initial consultation for £25 and sessions are £50. Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
