Integrative Counsellor: Georgina Seymour

Georgina-Seymour-website-spring-2025-photo

I am an experienced Integrative Counsellor.

I provide a warm, supportive space to explore what is going on for you, understand your feelings and reactions, and most importantly, work towards your goals. This might be in adjusting unhelpful thought patterns, voicing what your needs are and exploring together how they can be better met in your relationships or using psychoeducation to better understand what is going on for you when your anxiety spikes.Georgina-Seymour-website-spring-2025-photo

What is Integrative Counselling? It is a model which draws from a range of therapeutic models and theories, this means that I am able to provide an individualised service.

I am primarily Person-centred, so the process and relationship are central to how I work. This means that I work to maintain a non-judgemental stance; I think that the practice of compassionate empathy is central to therapy and I see the work of therapy as a joint venture – it is not me ‘doing’ but us working together – you bring your own experience and expertise, as well me!

I also draw from CBT, Transactional Analysis and I find thinking about our systems and the people/society around us to be very useful. I find writing creatively and therapeutically useful personally and have seen many clients use it effectively between sessions and after our counselling work has come to an end. I may offer suggestions for writing or work between sessions as this can boost the effectiveness of the work.

I also offer Outdoor Therapy at Eastville Park which is a lovely green space 10 minutes from the city centre. There are lots of fabulous birds and trees there!

Integrative Counsellor: Miranda Lovelock

Miranda Lovelock

I am an integrative counsellor with a Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy and registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and The National Counselling & PsychotherapyMiranda Lovelock Society (Accred) .

Integrative counselling means I combine different therapeutic theories and tailor them to your unique needs. Sometimes, I draw on creative processes and interventions focusing on your feelings and the world around you.

I understand that life can be overwhelming.

Maybe you feel confused and isolated, weighed down by working life, complex thoughts or emotions, demotivated or experiencing low self-esteem from relationship and work pressures. You might find yourself repeating old patterns of behaviour or lost about the direction in your life.

The connection between you, as the client, and your therapist serves as a window into your broader relationships and can offer insights into your life’s connections. Still, it’s crucial to recognise that you are not alone. I appreciate the significance of childhood experiences and their potential to remain hidden, only to resurface later in life.

My approach is firmly rooted in humanistic, psychodynamic and Gestalt principles. I aim to provide a compassionate and trauma-informed environment, inviting you to delve into your feelings, emotions, and underlying issues without fear of criticism or judgment.

Throughout the therapy, we can gain new insight into the dynamic interplay between your past and present, facilitating a deeper understanding of your current experiences and behaviours underpinned by empathy and offering you space to share your feelings and thoughts safely.

This process strongly emphasises fostering a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship, always moving at a comfortable pace for you, which has been proven to be integral to making positive change.

I felt completely safe and respected throughout our journey together, and with Liz’s careful guidance I felt like I was helped to solve my own problems myself, which is what makes the solutions so meaningful and lasting!“

“Liz has been fantastic. I’m actually going to miss having our sessions. She has made me look at things in a completely different way and has encouraged me to take some positive steps, rebuilding my life and my confidence. I deeply value everything she has to say and I got so much from our conversations. She made me feel understood, listened to and provided the validation that I needed. She made me feel comfortable instantly and has such a caring and welcoming presence about her. Her knowledge and understanding of people, trauma, and healing is astounding. Liz has been the best therapist I have ever had and I have had the best experience with her. I never anticipated I would get so much and come so far with our sessions. She is incredible at her job and such a lovely person. Thank you.”

Family Therapist/Systemic Psychotherapist: Nina Jones

Dr Nina Jones October 2024

I am a qualified and UKCP-registered Family Therapist – we are also known as ‘Systemic Psychotherapists’, because we think about ‘systems’ such as families, couples and groups/teams. I have much experience of working with young people and their families, couples and teams from working in the NHS in Bristol-based CAMHS (children and adolescent mental health) services, but also through work with young people’s charities.Dr Nina Jones October 2024

As family therapists we work with families (in whatever shape or form), couples, but also individuals, to think about the complex networks of relationships we live in. We have conversations with you about what is going well within those relationships, what you might like to be different and what you would like your relationships to look like going forwards. When one of us struggles, our network tends to struggle, too – and vice versa.

Together with my colleague Jon Ruchpaul, we have set up the ‘Bristol Family Therapy Collective CIC’, a community interest company that aims to provide equal access to high quality family therapy (www.bristolfamilytherapycollective.org). We are right at the beginning of our journey and our current fee structure is aimed to ‘pay forwards’ – your fees will contribute to providing future reduced rate and pro bono family therapy. While we are currently having to ask you to pay, we are also donating large amounts of our own time for free.

Outside work, I enjoy long walks with family, friends and dog Iris – I also bring both these aspects (nature and the dog!) into the therapy space.

Qualifications:

MSc in Systemic Psychotherapy from The Family Institute/University of South Wales

PhD in Neuroscience from University College London

I am a registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT) and abide by their ethical framework for good practice.

Sessions:

I currently offer 1 hour sessions face-to-face and online in central Bristol. Sessions are £80 for an individual, £90 for couples and £100 for families.

Please get in touch for availability at ninajones.bftc@gmail.com or on 07707828331.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapist & Counselling Psychologist: Dr Charlotte Rose

Charlotte Rose therapist photo BTTR October 2023

My passion in psychotherapy is to offer a relationship based on respectful understanding. This relationship provides a means of exploring aspects of experience which may have previously been too painful or confusing to face and supports courageousness in finding words for previously unrecognised truths.Charlotte Rose therapist photo BTTR October 2023

While I enjoy working with adults with various anxiety and mood related issues and have an extensive and broad professional background, including working in a senior psychology role in the NHS, and working at a university; I have expertise in the areas of interpersonal conflict, identity, troubled eating, and body focussed distress.

I care deeply about anti-discriminatory practice and spent my doctorate researching the nuanced meanings encoded in the troubled eating and bodies of queer people with eating disorders. I remain committed to recognising the impact of all forms of violence, oppression and ostracism; and to attending to the often-obscured stories of resistance.

In addition to it sometimes being necessary to make a commitment to doing things that are within our power to change differently, patterns of thoughts; feelings; and behaviours, can also be meaningful.

Psychoanalytic theory tells us that being sensitively supported and witnessed in efforts to put meanings into words can reduce suffering and reliance on harmful or self-limiting ways of coping, leading to the living of a fuller and more stable life. This is the philosophy that underpins all my clinical practice.

What happens in therapy?

Starting therapy begins with a detailed assessment.

During assessment, you will be asked about your current and past situation, and whether you want to plan for time limited (e.g., 10-40 sessions) or longer-term therapy. However, you remain free to bring therapy to an end when you feel ready.

We will also develop our shared understanding of the focus for therapy, and establish what is required to work on this together. The latter includes considering practicalities to enable you to make the best use of therapy and ensuring clarity about each of our roles.

Once the focus of, and agreement for therapy has been reached, you are invited to voice your uncensored thoughts and feelings about your experiences, including those in relation to the therapy focus, agreement, and the therapy relationship itself.

My role includes paying careful attention to what is communicated and potentially inferred, and to share and check my observations with you in a way that is both manageable and helpful.

We continue to hold your goals for therapy in mind to ensure that we are talking about what is important to you, and to inform review of how things progress.

Integrative Counsellor: Mark Childs

Mark Childs

Life rarely follows the straightforward path we had hoped it would, and we can find ourselves in places we don’t recognise or discover that the path ahead delivers unexpected changes or challenges. These changes can often result in mixed feelings, some welcome and some hard to accept. Counselling can offer a space to come to terms with these changes and cope with the transitional stage we find ourselves in.Mark Childs

I am able to work through your existential or spiritual concerns, help you to understand previous events and difficulties from your life, or work towards a future goal. In order to do this, I draw from a variety of approaches and creative techniques to work as an integrative counsellor and this helps me to best meet the specific needs of the person I am working with. However, I believe that the therapeutic journey is a collaborative one. Therefore, in order to honour the uniqueness and autonomy of the client, I would aim to approach any difficulties and obstacles in a mutual, collaborative and interpersonal way. Using this approach allows me to respond to the person I am sitting with rather than applying a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to suit everyone.

Nonetheless, although I believe that creating a relationship this way between counsellor and client is central to creating a safe, trusting and supportive space for personal exploration, please rest assured that you will always be placed at the centre of the work.

The therapeutic work can be open-ended or run through a fixed number of sessions, depending on your preference. Initially, the first session will be about exploring what has brought you to counselling and your current situation. Following this, sessions act as a way for me to get to know you and your story more deeply, creating the base from which the therapeutic journey progresses. Should this strike a chord with you, I would be happy to meet with you to review your individual needs about what you would like to gain from coming to therapy.

Fees

Sessions last for 50 minutes and cost £70.

Relational Integrative Therapist: Irina Iosub MBACP DipHIC LL.M (she/her)

Irina Iosub January 2023

You may appear to cope well on the outside while feeling increasingly overwhelmed, disconnected or emotionally exhausted underneath. Perhaps you’re used to carrying a lot on your own, struggling in relationships, or quietly wondering whether life is supposed to feel this heavy.
Irina Iosub January 2023

I work with people navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, infidelity and painful relationship endings. Some clients come feeling disconnected from themselves, unsure how to slow down without guilt, or sensing that something important has been lost along the way.

My approach is relational, compassionate and tailored to you. Together, we might explore the deeper patterns shaping your emotions, relationships and sense of self, while also making space for what’s happening in the present moment – in your thoughts, feelings and body.

Beyond quick psychological explanations or self-help formulas promising healing, therapy with me offers something different: an attuned human relationship where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply, loosen old patterns, and feel more connected to yourself, your relationships and your life.

Before training as a therapist, I worked in the legal profession and later within NHS settings. These experiences gave me insight into the pressures of high-responsibility environments, performance-driven cultures, and the emotional cost of constantly holding things together.

I hold a Diploma in Integrative and Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy, have completed Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) training through Oxford, and am a registered member of the BACP, working within their ethical framework.

I offer counselling in Bristol and online, both short-term and open-ended.

Fees

Individual counselling sessions: £60
Online and in-person sessions available

Introductory session

I offer a free online 30-minute introductory session where we can talk about what brings you to therapy and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. After the introductory session, you can take some time to reflect and then if we feel like a good fit, we can begin with 6 sessions and review things together from there.

You’re welcome to get in touch by email to arrange an initial conversation or ask any questions at: irina@irinacounselling.co.uk or visit my website www.irinacounselling.co.uk
